            The Opera Guild of Greater Columbia, SC was launched on March 27, 1978 by Dr. James and Marge Adams for the purpose of stimulating love and support for opera in the community. Although Dr. Adams is now deceased, Marge is still very active in the guild, having served several terms as president.
             We meet four times a year between September
and May, and boast a membership roll of about one hundred members. Our meetings consist of a social hour, a short business meeting, and an entertainment program by various

PALMETTO OPERA

This fledgling opera company has presented a number of fund-raising galas to help further their goal of presenting full-fledged operas in the Midlands of South Carolina. To see pictures from these events and for other information about this worthy endeavor click the following links:

local artists. After the entertainment the socializing recommences, and a good time is had by all!

            This web site will be used primarily for meeting notices and announcements of opera-related events in our community and surrounding area. From time to time, your host will post pictures shot by him and others at guild meetings and other local functions.

 entertainment elsewhere. We are long past the point where we could be considered “kids,” but we
 have seen several of these productions, and they were all wonderful and memorable experiences!)
