JOE NYBERG

The tradition continues. Here we have yet another classmate who failed to complete the program, in this case being eliminated from Pre-Flight because his eyesight was not up to standards. Not before he had achieved rather lofty Cadet rank, though, as you can see from the picture on the left. He says, “I switched to the Navigator Program but really did not want to be a navigator but one who flew navigators.  In civilian life I earned my Private, Commercial, Multi-Engine, Instrument and Instructor ratings; I finally went with the airlines and hold an ATP Certificate with DC-3 and Boeing 727 Type Ratings.  I also hold a Gold Seal Certified Instructor Rating: Airplanes Single and Multi-Engine Land and Sea and Instrument - also have the Instrument and Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate.  I have a total of more than 10,000 hours of which 6.300 are in turbine / jet aircraft and 8,500 are in multi-engine aircraft.  I guess that the USAF's loss was essentially my gain. Academically, I have a BS degree in Organizational Psychology, MS in Applied Management and Ph.D. in Urban Land Economics.”

The lethal weapon on the left is a pocket knife Joe bought for his father during Pre-Flight.
